Financial burdens can come in many shapes and sizes, from unexpected medical bills to job loss. They can be caused by factors beyond our control, such as the cost of living or natural disasters. But no matter what the cause, financial hardship can have a devastating impact on our lives, making it difficult to meet our basic needs and achieve our goals.
Lendal exists to provide ways for day traders, new traders, and even your grandma to take charge of these burdens with access to approachable, easy-to-use, set-it-and-forget-it, institutional-grade trading tools.
But we couldn’t build these tools without our community. The thousands of traders in our community have helped us understand exactly what every trader needs, and more than that – what every person wants.
With their feedback, our software and approach has exponentially improved. Our community is our lifeblood. So it’s important to us that we give back where we can.
We’ve witnessed the strength and resilience of people within our community as they face extraordinary challenges in their personal and professional lives. One such story is that of ABO Adam’s son, Adam, who faced a devastating diagnosis at a tender age.
Today, we’d like to bring to light the battles one of our most beloved community members has been fighting and how we can help him and his family.
Years ago, ABO and his wife moved to the Netherlands from Syrian in hopes of a better life, an education, and a future for their family.
“I’m originally from Syria. I came to the Netherlands a couple years ago and then my wife came later with a family reunion program here.
We were busy with learning the Dutch language and then we both started university after we reached the level of Dutch required for it.
In my second year of university, we had our first and only child Adam and he is a blessing for us. We loved him so much and he was everything for us as we have no family here.
Adam always liked to play with cars and paint with watercolors. He still does that to this day.” ABO, explains.
Unfortunately, this beautiful family of three, safe and realizing their dreams, would soon be faced with an earth-shattering diagnosis that sends their plans into a tailspin.
In an interview, ABO explained to us, “When Adam was two and half year[s old], we started noticing that he is not eating much and throwing up a lot and we went to the doctor more than 9 times in one month but she kept saying that it’s stomach flu or flu or stomach virus until I insisted, we have to go to the hospital to do more checks. And when we went there the pediatrician requested a CT-SCAN for my son’s head and they saw the tumor. At this point our whole life has stopped and we are living day by day because we don’t know what’s going to happen with him.”
If you want to talk about fear, uncertainty, and doubt, this is it folks. Adam was immediately referred to a specialized children’s hospital, where preparations were made for his first surgery on February 23, 2022.
Due to his age, Adam couldn’t undergo radiotherapy, so he underwent the most aggressive chemotherapy his small body could tolerate. The treatments took a toll on Adam and his family, causing damage to his abdomen and mouth. Their lives became a constant cycle of hospital stays and brief respites at home. “We stayed multiple months in the hospital and a week or so home before we went back again to the hospital.” ABO says.
In November 2022, a glimmer of hope emerged when Adam’s MRI scan showed no signs of the tumor. The family believed they had overcome the worst. Sadly, their hope was short-lived. The next scan revealed the tumor’s resurgence, plunging them back into the emotional rollercoaster of battling cancer all once again.
At the time, ABO and his wife were both students but their lives were upended when their son was diagnosed. Adam’s frequent hospital stays made it difficult for them to work regular jobs, as they never knew when they would need to be by his bedside. Being far from home, ABO and his wife had to rely on forms of government support during this time.
“I had student support for the first year but then I had to stop it because I wasn’t able to study or do anything and this support system was debt so I have to pay it back after study. Now we are taking support from the government until my son [is] hopefully fully cured from cancer.” ABO tells us about his financial troubles.
ABO was unable to work. He was supporting his family financially with a part-time job as he and his wife engaged in their studies. But that all stopped, the work and the studies, as their family put everything into their son’s treatment. Now ABO sits on all a pile of school loans he’s required to pay back, with no source of income.
Lendal’s involvement
With no studies and no work, ABO had a lot of down time. Online, he turned to products and communities that might provide him with tools for financial success. We are grateful to say, Lendal was one such community.
“I remember multiple times before my son’s operations or treatments at Lendal’s weekly AMA, everyone was supportive and praying for us and sending positive energy. We really appreciate that. It really means a lot in these difficult times.” ABO said.
ABO’s deepest wish for the community is that they continue to pray for him and send him positive energy.
We strive to go above and beyond, especially for our beloved community members. That’s why our team came together and organized a fundraiser for little Adam, using Lendal Copy to amplify any funds raised.
Lendal will be donating $1,000 dollars to ABO’s family.

Though we are unable to show our support in person, we can still work together to aid in relieving this family’s financial burden. In doing so, we ensure that ABO remains by Adam’s side throughout this arduous journey, empowering him to cross the finish line not just victorious, but stronger than ever.
I believe that when we unite as a community, we can become a formidable force in the fight against cancer. Let us stand side by side with Adam and his family, demonstrating the resolve that is characteristic of the Lendal community.
Adam, may you reclaim your childhood, once again reveling in the simple pleasures of playing with cars and unleashing your creativity through watercolors.
